Understanding stop rules in a sequence

Sequences stop automatically on reply, bounce or unsubscribe.

Updated Aug 16, 2026 1 min read

A sequence exists to start a conversation, so it ends the moment one starts.

Default behaviour

A lead is removed from the remaining steps on reply, on a hard bounce, and on unsubscribe. No further email in that sequence is queued for them.

Per-step exceptions

Exceptions are configured per step in the sequence editor, so you can keep a specific step running where it makes sense for your process.
