How to write your first campaign email

Structure, length and the settings that affect whether it lands.

Steps

  1. On the Sequences tab, open the first email step.
  2. Write a subject line that reads like an internal note, not an advertisement.
  3. Keep the body under about 90 words: one line of relevance, one line of value, one clear ask.
  4. Insert variables from the lead record, each with a fallback.
  5. Use Preview to check real leads, then Send test to see it in a real client.

Important notes

  • Plain text with at most one link performs best on a cold first touch.
  • Image-heavy HTML, tracking-heavy layouts and multiple links all add placement risk.
  • Save templates you reuse from the Templates page.
